About Us
Here at Sound Ideas Home Theater Design we are proud of our history and legendary service. We pride ourselves in our old fashioned customer service and quality installations. To us you are not just another sale. We care about what happens after the sale because you are a person living in the same community we live. For over 34 years our knowledgeable staff has helped people just like you make the right decisions for their Audio/Video needs. We do not believe in "making the sale". We believe in helping our customers get the best value for their budget and desire. Below is more information on our company and our beliefs.
Our History
Sound Ideas Home Theater Design began as Sound Idea Stereo Stores in 1972, when Tom Bonjour and Jay Hornsby, both of whom had been working for a local audio retailer, decidedto open their own store. They felt they could provide their customers withqualityname brand products together with great pricing and fantastic service.Tom, a TCU student, and Jay, a UTA student, opened their first storenear the UTA Campus in Arlington,Texas and sold audio equipment as well as car stereos.
In 1974, the company expanded into Fort Worth, Texas opening a second store on Camp Bowie Blvd.In 1976, Sound Idea opened a new store onPioneer Parkway in Arlington, this became the company's new head quarters. Tom and Jay were always looking for new ways to better serve their customers and community.This passion led to some innovationsin the company that changed Sound Idea and the DFW metroplex forever.
The first was the introduction of video to the product line up in the late 70's. Having both audio and video, it was not long before Sound Idea's customers began to ask if Tom and Jay could install the products as well, and in the early 1980's Sound Idea began performing Custom Home Installation. In 1984, a new store was built in Fort Worth off Hulen Street. This store showcased the company's custom installation and later Custom Home Theater. Sound Idea quickly built a reputation for providing the best and most reliable custom installation in Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, a reputation that has grown stronger over the years.
January 1, 2006 Sound Idea became Sound Ideas Home Theater Design. With our new company structure we have stream lined our new company to provide better service and installation backed by over 35 years of experience.
We have worked with many of the finest builders, contractors, and architects in North Texas. Sound Ideas is the premiere custom install company.
Our Philosophy
Sound Idea was founded on a 3-point business philosophy that we have followed for over 30 years.
1. Sell Only Quality Name Brand Products
When Tom and Jay first started, they carried quality brands such as Technics, JVC, JBL, Kenwood, and Marantz. They often reviewed and updated their brands always looking for the best product available. The result is our current product line, which features some of the finest names in Audio and Video: Denon, Runco, Lexicon, Bryston, Mitsubishi, LG, Zenith, Sony, B&K, KEF, Klipsch, Niles, and M&K.
2. Sell At Competitive Prices
We continually check our prices against our competition to make sure that we are offering the lowest prices on all our products, and should someone happen to beat our pricing we will match it.
3. Staff Only Qualified, Knowledgeable, and Friendly Salespeople and Custom Installers
All our salespeople and custom installers are highly trained on all aspects of audio/video as well as custom installation. We are constantly reading, learning, training, installing, tweaking, testing, comparing and experimenting to provide the customer with the knowledge base and experience they deserve. We stay ahead of the technology curve so that our customers do not have to.
